Free Church

1030 McConville Road #12 Lynchburg, VA

Join me on my journey of visiting every church in my city as I explore different places of worship and experience the rich diversity of faith communities.

Today, I want to share my incredible experience at Free Church, the ninth church I had the privilege of visiting. From the warm welcome to the powerful worship, Free Church truly left a lasting impression on my heart.

As I entered Free Church, I was greeted by Alisha, who wore a t-shirt that read “Make God Known.” The vibrant atmosphere and the friendly faces of the congregation made me feel right at home. Ronnetta made sure I felt welcomed by engaging in conversation with her bright smile and heart.

It was a special day as the church was celebrating its one-year anniversary this month, and I felt honored to be a part of this joyful occasion.

Before the service began, I had the opportunity to meet Pastor Byron J. Elliott and his wife, LaTisha Elliott. We shared a moment of connection and took some quick photos together.

Alisha kindly gave me a tour of the church, sharing that it had been transformed from a warehouse into a beautiful place of worship. The genuine warmth within the congregation was immediately felt.

The sound of worship music filled the air as church members continued to arrive.

Led by Pastor Byron and his wife (affectionally known as “Lady E”), the praise and worship team ignited our spirits and encouraged us to praise the Lord wholeheartedly.

The passion and talent of the musicians, including Martelle on the drums, added an extra layer of energy and devotion to the songs. Let me tell you the Pastor and his wife are also incredible musicians and singers!

Elder Shaquille Cook (another friendly face I recognized) delivered a dynamic sermon on Mark 9:14, “Help My Unbelief.” His words spoke to me personally, addressing the challenges we face in our daily lives. It was clear that God had orchestrated my presence at Free Church to hear this specific message, reminding me that nothing happens by accident. Elder Cook preached the message in a relatable way, which I appreciated.

Throughout the service, I witnessed the love and unity that defines Free Church.

The genuine joy on people’s faces and the heartfelt worship created an atmosphere where everyone felt welcomed and valued.

I am immensely grateful to the Free Church community for their warmth, hospitality, and for magnifying the name of Jesus. This experience has left an lasting mark on my journey, reminding me of the beauty and power of faith in action.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone at Free Church for making me feel loved and welcomed. The intentional efforts to create a welcoming environment and worship Jesus were truly remarkable. It’s an experience I will always cherish.

If you’re seeking a spirit-filled church where you can come as you are and worship in the way that you choose, I personally recommend Free Church.
