Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel

606 Fifth Street- Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd Lynchburg, VA 24504

Continuing on my spiritual journey to explore every church in my city, I felt guided by the Holy Spirit to visit Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel on Easter Sunday, marking the 47th stop on my sacred quest.

It was a day filled with profound meaning and emotion, as I was joined by my sisters Shara and Jessica, my cousin Annalee, and my nieces Leah and Emily.

My family’s presence added an extra layer of joy to this special occasion as we gathered to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Arriving early, I took the opportunity to capture the beauty of Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel through photographs.

Reverend Dr. C.W. Dunning and his wife Peggy greeted us warmly at the door, instantly making us feel welcome and at home. Their genuine hospitality set the tone for what would be a deeply meaningful experience.

Before the service began, I had the privilege of joining a Bible study led by Reverend Amos, where I gained valuable insights into the teachings of scripture.

Sister DeeDee’s kindness in sharing her study materials with me exemplified the spirit of inclusivity and generosity that permeated the church community.

Throughout the day, I was so appreciative of the genuine warmth and friendliness of the congregation.

From Sister DeeDee’s and many other members heartfelt invitation to visit Jericho Baptist Church to the warm smiles and welcoming gestures of fellow worshippers, it was clear that this was a place where everyone is valued and embraced.

I missed seeing my new friend, Fannie, whom I met at a wonderful praise and worship event at Free Church recently.

Learning about Pastor Dr. C.W. Dunning’s connection to my childhood home in West Virginia deepened my sense of connection with the church community.

The dedication to serving others through outreach ministries like the “Red Truck Ministry” underscored the church’s commitment to embodying the teachings of Christ in practical ways, serving those in our city who need immediate help.

As the service began, the sound of praise songs filled the sanctuary, lifting our spirits and drawing us into a deeper connection with God.

A moving solo performance of “Lord, Do It for Me” brought tears to my eyes, reminding me of the power of praise to touch the soul.

During Pastor Dr. C.W. Dunning’s sermon, his words filled with humor and humility, offered a message of hope and encouragement to all who listened.

His reflections on the significance of Easter Sunday reminded me of the power of Christ’s resurrection and the promise of new life that it brings.

As we joined together in prayer and reflection, I felt a profound sense of peace and belonging wash over me.

In that sacred moment, surrounded by my family and fellow worshippers, I was reminded of the boundless love and grace of God that unites us all.

My visit to Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel was a deeply enriching and uplifting experience that will stay with me for years to come. Thank you for all of the hugs and love!
