Redeeming Grace Baptist Church

3630 Old Forest Road, Lynchburg VA

Today, I had the incredible opportunity to continue my mission of visiting every church in our city by stepping into Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, marking it as the 57th church on my spiritual journey.

The experience at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church was interesting to say the least, and it was a privilege to be part of their congregation, even if just for a day.

Upon arrival, my daughter and I were greeted by two gentlemen standing at the entrance. We said good morning to one another and we made our way into the church, where a welcoming team of two ladies at the front desk area greeted us with warm handshakes and a short conversation.

Though I asked around a dozen people if they would allow a photograph for the blog I’m writing, they all declined, and I certainly understood and respected their boundaries and was careful to proceed with taking more photos during service.

I have learned throughout this journey that I have a personal preference for really connecting with people, shaking hands, hugs, and conversation, but I fully understand and respect that each service is different.

We then headed to an area serving coffee and donuts.

My daughter enjoyed half of a chocolate sprinkled donut, which someone graciously took time to cut in pieces for the people wishing to partake.

My daughter and I stood there in the room, looking at various photos of missionary work, but no one spoke to us.

Feeling a bit out of place, we moved toward the sanctuary.

After leaving an offering and standing outside the doors, a beautiful, kind soul named Julie approached us.

She shared her story of how she’s been attending this church since 1989 and even met her husband there. The world needs more Julies!

We were so grateful for her genuine and authentic conversation, which made us feel more welcome and she agreed to take a photo for this journey.

As we entered the sanctuary, the lovely worship team began playing, and the church was so full that we found seats in the back row. The perspective was different as we normally try to sit in the front, but it was heartwarming to see so many families worshiping together from the back, and the congregation included people of all ages.

A kind gentleman in front of us ensured we had enough room as the back row was a bit tight, and we sincerely appreciated his thoughtfulness.

Although I did not get to meet the pastor in person today, Pastor Mike delivered a powerful sermon on “A Picture Of Mega Faith” using Matthew 15:21-31 as a guide.

Pastor Mike has an excellent way of teaching and preaching the Bible. He broke down each word to explain its significance, emphasizing that God wants us to notice His Word.

It was wonderful to see how Pastor Mike infused humor and relatable world examples to better help understand the passages.

One of my favorite moments was during the Kids Question segment when the entire congregation erupted in laughter at a child’s hilarious comment.

Pastor Mike’s message about whether we are people of mega faith like the Canaanite woman or of little faith deeply spoke to me.

He reminded us to approach the Lord with faith and that Jesus is the only answer.

I wholeheartedly encourage anyone to visit Redeeming Grace Baptist Church.

This church, the community, and powerful messages are truly great. You can learn more about Redeeming Grace Baptist Church by visiting their website at: https://www.rgbaptist.org/ or on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/rglynchburg
