Continuing on my spiritual journey to visit every church in my city, a mission inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, I found myself at the welcoming doors of Rivermont Baptist Church.
This visit, a new milestone as the 63rd church on my sacred journey, led me to a haven of love, healing, and hope in the heart of our community.
Despite arriving thirty minutes late due to not knowing their summer worship hours begin at 10 a.m. instead of 11 a.m., I was welcomed warmly by a kind gentleman who guided me into the Sanctuary.
Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the RBC Music Ministry, who were singing powerful lyrics “You are Holy, God,” which moved me to tears.
A young man, Tanner Sharpe, played the keyboard and organ with such skill and passion that it was easy to see why he is considered one of the best musicians around.
I later learned that he has a new CD coming out, and I can only imagine how wonderful it must be. If you ever get the chance to hear Tanner play, please seize the opportunity… it is an incredible experience.
The entire choir and praise team were outstanding and phenomenal, creating a worship experience that felt like a true blessing to be part of.
I felt incredibly privileged to share in a joyous moment where recent high school and college graduates were being celebrated and presented with scholarships and gifts.
The entire congregation beamed with pride, and tears of joy flowed freely from family and friends, marking these wonderful accomplishments in our community.
Today, Reverend Maliki Fleshman prayed a beautiful prayer before the sermon, setting a heartfelt tone for what was to come.
We were in for a special treat with a reading of the book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss, which was even more meaningful with all the graduates present.
As we read from Matthew Chapter 17:20-21, we were encouraged to ignite our faith and trust in God. We were reminded that we have the power to move mountains and that faith does not make the journey easy, but it is an essential part of our journey.
Reverend Fleshman said that when everyone else tells you something is impossible, we need to have faith. Our plans might not always work out the way we think, and that’s okay because God has the best plan. This message felt like it was directly for me, and I praised God for it.
I desperately needed the reminder that our steps are ordered by the Lord.
After the service, I was met with an outpouring of warm smiles and hugs from friends and members.
Everyone was so friendly and kind, inviting me to come back anytime.

I cannot thank everyone enough for the love and kindness shown to me today.
I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to visit this Spirit-filled church and experience the love and community I felt. I am eager to see where the Holy Spirit leads me next on this incredible journey.
