Today, I had the absolute joy of worshiping with Norwood Baptist Church, the 90th church on my journey, through their online service on Facebook Live.
As snow and icy conditions continued to impact much of our area, with parts of my own street still blanketed in ice from the last storm, I made the decision to stay home and join this vibrant congregation virtually.
My daughter joined me for the service, and we were both so thankful for the opportunity to participate in worship, even from the comfort of our home.
What a blessing to connect with God’s people, no matter where we are!
Norwood Baptist Church has a clear and powerful mission: Win souls for Christ. Create disciples. Build His Kingdom. Support our families.
From the moment the service began, it was clear that this church family lives out their mission with joy, authenticity, and an undeniable love for Jesus.
The service started with lighthearted humor that brought laughter to both my daughter and me.
The church shared some hilarious jokes that set such a warm and welcoming tone, reminding us that joy is such a wonderful part of worship.
But with the laughter came a powerful truth: when everyone else leaves, Jesus stays, and we are called to be like Jesus.
That reminder really hit home for me as we began to shift into worship.
One of my favorite moments was singing along to the beloved hymn Victory in Jesus. The lyrics were displayed on the screen, allowing us to join in from home, and I could hear my daughter’s sweet voice singing beside me.
It was a simple but deeply meaningful moment that reminded me of the beauty of worshiping God in any setting.
Pastor Sam was an absolute delight to watch and listen to!
His vibrant energy, passion for the Lord, and down-to-earth spirit made the service engaging and heartfelt.
I could feel his genuine love for Jesus radiating through the screen.
What made it even more special was hearing the congregation actively participating… joining Pastor Sam in worship, responding to his message, and creating an atmosphere of joy and connection.
One of the most touching parts of the service was Pastor Sam leading the congregation in a beautiful rendition of Lord, Prepare Me to Be a Sanctuary.
This heartfelt moment was followed by a powerful altar call, where members of the church came forward to lay hands on and pray over those in need.
Even though I wasn’t physically present, I felt the Spirit moving in a mighty way through this act of faith and community.
Another highlight was the lively and spirit-filled singing of His Love Endures Forever.
Pastor Sam’s enthusiasm was contagious as he danced with joy, leading the congregation in worship. It was clear that this was a special moment, as the entire church joined in wholeheartedly, creating a sense of celebration that I could feel even through the screen.
Of course, the sermon was the heart of the service and left a lasting impression on my heart.
This week’s message built on last week’s theme of having a servant’s heart, focusing on the idea of “Spiritual Exercise” and what it takes to grow and strengthen our faith. Pastor Sam broke it down into four key points: Readiness, Repetition, Resistance, and Resolution.
His message was both practical and profound, filled with wisdom that I know will help me in my own walk with Christ.
I loved Pastor Sam’s down-to-earth personality and humor… if you see him out and about, you should ask him to explain the sermon to you. And if you bring him a piece of chocolate cake, it’ll absolutely make his day!
This service was such a blessing, and it’s clear that Norwood Baptist Church is a special place filled with faithful, loving believers who truly embody the love of Christ.
I encourage everyone to visit this wonderful church, whether online or in person, and experience the joy of worshiping with them.
I can’t wait to connect with this congregation in person one day and see where the Holy Spirit leads me next on this incredible journey of faith.
