Liberty Baptist Church

1709 Church Street, Appomattox VA

Today, I experienced a deeply moving moment on my ongoing journey to visit every church in our city.

Despite facing transportation challenges and the recent hurdles of health struggles, I was blessed to join the online service of Liberty Baptist Church… the 94th church on my spiritual pilgrimage.

Even from the comfort of my own home, I was reminded that no matter what trials I face, my joy is found in the Lord.

Over the past six weeks, every sermon I’ve encountered has struck me with profound impact, helping me get through my own difficulties and reminding me of God’s presence.

Today was no different.

As I logged in, my heart was lifted by the sight of the online community joining together in worship.

The service began with my friend and Associate Pastor, Ishmael LaBiosa, leading us in preparing our hearts for worship.

His gentle guidance set the stage for a time of connection and healing.

I was truly blessed to see people tuning in from all corners of the country and even from overseas, all united by the desire to worship our Lord.

Their shared commitment reaffirmed my belief that, even when I can’t be there in person, I’m never truly alone in Christ.

The worship team led us in beautiful worship music, singing lyrics: “The Joy of the Lord is my Strength.”

Every note felt like a declaration of hope, a reminder that, regardless of my current challenges, God’s strength is always available to me.

The music, full of heartfelt passion, resonated with every fiber of my being, reinforcing the truth that my joy is not found in circumstances but in the eternal power of Jesus.

Shortly after, we were introduced to Lead Pastor Rusty Small, who opened the service with a beautiful prayer.

I also learned that the church is celebrating “Fellowship February,” a time when community events and shared experiences are at the heart of their ministry.

It was inspiring to hear how dedicated they are to nurturing relationships and building a family of faith.

Today’s sermon, delivered by Pastor Rusty Small, was a powerful reminder of the importance of trusting God even when we don’t understand our circumstances.

Drawing from the story of David as a fugitive from Saul, Pastor Rusty spoke with clarity and heartfelt conviction about how God has always protected David, and how He will protect us as well.

He challenged us with questions about our own faith: Are we truly relying on God’s strength, or are we trying to force our own plans?

He reminded us that in moments of despair or heartache, we must learn to see God’s hand at work in our lives.

His message was rich with practical insights, urging us to shift our focus from our challenges to the hope and victory that come through a personal relationship with Jesus.

I left the sermon with renewed conviction that God’s plans are perfect, and that every hardship is an opportunity to grow closer to Him.

Even as I faced my own transportation struggles, I found comfort in the simple blessings of daily life. While walking to and from the grocery store this morning, I made a conscious choice to thank God for the ability to walk, for the strength He provides, and for the simple gift of being able to care for my family.

This perspective shift, focusing on gratitude rather than limitation, was a powerful reminder of God’s constant provision.

As I continue on this challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey, I am deeply grateful for the message that today’s service delivered.

Liberty Baptist Church has once again reminded me that no matter how hard life gets, God’s promises remain true. I am encouraged to trust in Him fully, knowing that His strength is made perfect in my weakness.

I eagerly await the day I can return to in-person worship, but for now, I embrace the blessings of online service.

I am excited to see where the Holy Spirit leads me next on this journey… a journey that is slowly but surely healing every broken part of my heart.

Thank you to everyone at Liberty Baptist Church for sharing your love, your prayers, and your strength with me today.

May we all continue to trust in the Lord, for His joy is our strength and His grace is ever sufficient.
