Today was a truly joyous and humbling experience as I had the privilege of visiting Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, marking the 97th stop on this incredible journey of visiting every church in my city.
Lynchburg, also known as the “City of Churches,” has continued to reveal this beautiful community to me, and I am so grateful to be part of such a loving and faith-filled city.
From the moment I stepped through the doors of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, I was greeted with genuine warmth and kindness.
Hugs, smiles, handshakes, and heartfelt conversations filled the room, making me feel not just like a visitor, but like family.
As I engaged with the congregation, I asked what made this church so special to them. Overwhelmingly, the responses reflected a deep commitment to the Word of God, sound theology, and a worship experience centered on God’s glory… not on spectacle or performance.
One thing that stood out to me was the absence of some modern technology in the service. No screens, no flashy visuals, just pure, heartfelt worship.
We sang from the Psalms and hymn books, led by the Pastor, who had a truly beautiful singing voice that uplifted the entire congregation.
The scripture readings and prayers were filled with reverence, sincerity, and a deep longing for God’s presence. I could tell that this is a church that does not waver in its dedication to the truth of the Gospel.
Today’s sermon by Pastor Jay was titled “Mercy Remembered”, and I am confident that God meant for me to hear this message today.
Every word spoke directly to my heart and reminded me of the importance of humbling myself before the Lord.
As we walked through the book of Jeremiah, I was reminded that:
- Sin promises what it can never give.
- We must recognize the tragedies of sin and seek true repentance.
- God knows my heart—but do I truly know my own?
- If God is for us, who can be against us?
We briefly discussed the paradox of the Christian faith, and I found myself learning so much from today’s message.
I was deeply moved by how the entire church lifted prayers for all denominations, showing a genuine love for the body of Christ beyond their own walls.
One of the most touching moments of my visit was meeting Pastor Jay’s family, who welcomed me so graciously and even let me take a photo of them together.
The love and hospitality I felt at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church reminded me once again how powerfully God is using this journey to heal and restore me.
Every time I step into a new church, I feel the Holy Spirit working in ways I never expected. I know that this journey is not just about visiting churches, it’s about transformation, renewal, and giving all the glory to God.
I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this incredible church if you are seeking biblical truth, a loving community, and a worship experience centered entirely on God.
Today was a blessing beyond words, and I will always cherish the kindness and truth that filled my heart.
I cannot wait to see where the Holy Spirit leads me next on this beautiful, humbling, and life-changing journey.
