Hill Street Baptist Church

111 Madison Avenue NW, Roanoke VA

Today my heart overflows with gratitude for the abundant mercy and love of God, who has guided me faithfully through every valley and mountain on this incredible journey.

The Holy Spirit led me to the uplifting online service of Hill Street Baptist Church in Roanoke, marking yet another beautiful stop on this divinely orchestrated path.

This morning’s service was especially joyous as we celebrated the 4-year Anniversary of Pastor and First Lady Tyler.

How fitting it was to celebrate dedicated servants who pour out their lives in love for God’s people.

My spirit was deeply stirred as we began with powerful hymns, including the timeless “God’s Unchanging Hand.” I found comfort and strength in these lyrics, a blessed reminder that even as storms rage and seasons change, God’s hand remains firm and unmovable.

I am so grateful the church thoughtfully shared the hymn lyrics on-screen, enabling me and countless others tuning in from around the world to worship in unity. It fills my soul with wonder to see how God connects us, from different cities, countries, and continents, in praise.

The Scripture reading today taken from Romans 10:13-15:
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!’”

This powerful passage reminded me of the beauty and sacred calling that rests upon our pastors, who diligently share the Gospel of peace.

Today’s celebration was indeed a heartfelt tribute to Pastor Tyler, and I listened in awe as congregation members testified about his passion and how he preaches each sermon with urgency, as if it were his last. Such powerful testimonies reminded me of how blessed we are when God raises faithful shepherds whose lives reflect the heart of Christ.

One of the most moving moments today came through the anointed praise dance performed to the powerful song, “Speak The Name.”

Watching online, tears filled my eyes, and my soul was deeply touched by the raw emotion, passion, and the presence of God. It was a holy moment that crossed screens and distances, allowing me to feel connected as if I were there in person. It was a vivid reminder of the power that lies in calling upon the name of Jesus.

Our guest preacher today, Dr. Taylor from Mt. Calvary in Richmond, delivered a profound and convicting message titled “Straight From The Heart of God.”

His words pierced my heart as he spoke of what it truly means to be called by God, not merely as pastors and preachers, but as believers living lives that illuminate Christ to others. He reminded us that a godly pastor, while not perfect, is genuinely chosen by God, set apart to model humility, faithfulness, and authenticity. These characteristics shine through their lives, drawing others to Jesus through the integrity and love they display.

As I reflect upon Dr. Taylor’s sermon, my heart swells with gratitude, not only for dedicated shepherds like Pastor Tyler but for how God has faithfully led me on my personal journey.

Friends, I testify today that God has brought me through darkness into marvelous light. He has held my hand when the path was uncertain, healed my wounds when my heart was broken, and showered me with grace that I could never deserve. Truly, God has brought me a mighty long way.

Each church I visit, each message I hear, and each hymn I sing along with deepens my gratitude and draws me closer to my Savior.

Even through screens and technology, God continues to speak directly to my heart, affirming His call on my life. I look forward eagerly, with great anticipation, knowing that my Redeemer is faithfully shaping me, molding my heart, and ordering my steps.

Thank you, Hill Street Baptist Church, for welcoming me into your beautiful worship today. Your joy, warmth, and sincere love for Jesus have touched my life profoundly. I eagerly anticipate the day when I can join you all in person and experience firsthand the community that so clearly shines Christ’s love.

And so, with gratitude, humility, and hope, I continue forward, heart expectant, eyes fixed on Jesus.

I can’t wait to see where the Holy Spirit leads me next, confident that wherever He guides, there will be miracles, blessings, and abundant grace.

To God be all the glory forever and ever. Amen.
