825 Taylor Street Lynchburg, VA
Today was a day like no other—a moment that will forever be in my memory and heart.
As I set foot into Living Word Ministries, located in the heart of Lynchburg, I knew that I was about to embark on a truly divine journey. This cherished visit marked the 11th church on my incredible mission of exploring and experiencing every Christian congregation in my beloved city.
The moment I approached the church, I couldn’t help but notice the thoughtful arrangement of ample parking spaces, a special designated area for handicapped parking, an expression of the church’s genuine concern for every soul who enters their doors.
My heart warmed as I saw the blessing box stationed by the entrance, filled with food and essentials to aid those in need. A testament to their heart for service and compassion, this act of kindness spoke volumes about the heart of Living Word Ministries.
Upon entering, I was greeted by the most genuine and warm smile from Elsie, whose welcome instantly made me feel like an old friend coming home.
Guided into the sanctuary, I was delighted to find displays showcasing the church’s unwavering support for the youth in our community. The vision they have for the next 20 years to develop spiritual growth in children and adults alike filled me with hope and gratitude.
As I wandered through the sanctuary, I was met with the familiar faces of friends and acquaintances, including my dear friend Tiffani and her lovely daughter. Each embrace, each greeting, resonated with love and acceptance, making me feel a part of something greater—a tapestry of hearts woven together in faith and fellowship.
While I cannot possibly mention each person and friend by name, I am humbled and thankful for every warm hug, every hand extended in friendship.
The love and warmth that surrounded me was so heartwarming, you could feel the genuine spirit of fellowship that thrives within these walls.
Living Word Ministries believes deeply in God’s guiding hand, equipping His children for a life of service and devotion.
This church has a heart of service for loving God and loving others.
From the moment worship began, I sensed the Holy Spirit’s presence fill the air, turning the sanctuary into a sacred space where hearts were lifted in praise and hands raised in worship.
The sight of countless babies and young children dressed in their Sunday best, accompanied by individuals of all ages, united in their devotion to the Lord, made me smile from ear to ear.
The worship team’s soul-stirring rendition of “Be Encouraged” touched my very soul, reminding me of God’s unwavering presence and love, ever ready to lift us up in times of need.
Invited by my dear friend, educator and Woman of God, Ethel Reeves, to join her at the front, I felt embraced by the spirit of unity and the shared pursuit of drawing closer to our Heavenly Father.
The choir’s harmonious voices resonated with hope and inspiration, moving us to our feet, collectively praising God with hearts full of gratitude. The song’s powerful reminder that God will never abandon us, that His love is steadfast and eternal, struck a chord in my heart—a truth that has carried me through life’s most trying moments.
During the service, Ethel thoughtfully encouraged the youth to offer honest offerings to the Lord. Witnessing these young souls step forward with humility and sincerity brought tears to my eyes—testaments to the purity and authenticity of their faith.
Before delivering his sermon based on Luke 15 and the Prodigal Son, Bishop and Dr. James Camm fell to his knees in silent prayer, before the entire congregation, seeking divine guidance.
His words reverberated through my being, a message specifically meant for my heart. The reminder to wait upon the Lord, to trust His timing no matter how circumstances may appear, brought comfort and assurance to my soul.
I knew beyond a doubt that this was no coincidence; God’s hand had guided me to this sacred place and moment.
As the service reached its conclusion, the entire congregation joined hands in prayer, forming a circle of love and unity. Bishop and Dr. James Camm personally stood by the door after the service was over and had a one on one conversation with each member and guest who attended today, showing the love he has for God and for people.
Witnessing lives being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit was nothing short of awe-inspiring, including my own. In that moment, my heart overflowed with gratitude for the experiences, the connections, and the divine encounters that God orchestrates on our journey of faith.
As a newcomer, I was gifted a beautiful Bible cover—a tangible symbol of their warm embrace and hospitality. It was a gesture that moved me deeply, and I sincerely thank everyone at Living Word Ministries for loving me and making this worship experience one that I will treasure for a lifetime.
I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to visit Living Word Ministries and partake in this vibrant fellowship. This church’s profound love for all people shines through everything they do, from their commitment to community outreach to their unwavering dedication to spiritual growth and worship.

Love what you are doing. I have a church family that you recently visited but it is great to see the vast number of churches in Lynchburg that are sharing the gospel and reaching out not only to their congregations but to the community. Jesus told us to “GO” and share the gospel. It was not commanded to stay in the four walls of the church but to get out.
