1916 Florida Avenue, Lynchburg VA
In the ongoing narrative of my spiritual journey, a quest divinely inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, today’s chapter unfolded with grace and providence at Greater Brookville Church.
This beautiful church became the 41st haven of faith I’ve visited in our vibrant city of Lynchburg.
Invited by my dear friend Jessica, who regrettably couldn’t be with us today, the visit to this church was a profound experience, adding a new layer of depth and warmth into my exploration of our city’s spiritual landscape.
As my daughter and I arrived, greeted by the quiet calm of the early morning, we were met with the reassuring presence of Deacon Lewis Davis.
His words, affirming that we had arrived at precisely the right moment, enveloped us in an immediate sense of belonging. We instantly knew this church has open doors and a welcoming spirit.
Our brief pause at the restroom, which was maintained with such care and cleanliness, spoke volumes of the church’s attention to detail and pride in their sacred space. It’s these often overlooked gestures that silently testify to a congregation’s love and respect for their church home and for each other.
Returning to the sanctuary, the heart of Greater Brookville Church, we were embraced by the community with open arms and genuine smiles.
The warmth and kindness of individuals like Ozelia Broggin, whose radiant smile made us feel immediately at ease, and Pat Price, Jessica’s sister, whose hug was a profound expression of joy and welcome, deeply touched our hearts.
It was in these moments of simple, human connection that the church’s spirit of love and fellowship truly shone.
The service itself was so beautiful and spoke to the power of worship and communal faith.
As a voice, clear and angelic, filled the room with the acapella offering of “Lord, I’m available to you,” the worship team gradually joined in, creating a symphony of praise that was both uplifting and grounding.
The soulful rendition of “Great Are You Lord” and the deeply moving performance of “No Longer Slaves” sang by the Associate Pastor, resonated with every soul present, including mine, standing with hands raised in gratitude and surrender to God’s grace.
In the absence of Pastor Leroy Mitchell, guest Pastor Tim Morgan delivered a sermon that struck a chord deep within me.
His message, based on Matthew Chapter 8, “Who are you following,” was not merely a sermon but a call to reflection and action. His prayerful approach, both before and after the sermon, served to magnify Jesus and underscore the sermon’s message about the essence of our spiritual journey and the choices we make.
Pastor Morgan’s sermon was a profound reminder of the disciples’ commitment to follow Jesus, challenging us to consider our own willingness to surrender all in pursuit of our faith. His assurance that, despite the inevitable storms of life, we are securely anchored in Jesus, provided a profound sense of peace and hope.
The service culminated in a poignant moment of community prayer at the altar, with congregation members joining hands in a powerful display of unity and support for one another.
This act of collective prayer was a vivid illustration of the church’s foundational belief in the strength and necessity of communal intercession and support.
I warmly encourage anyone searching for a place where the Holy Spirit’s palpable presence fills the air, where genuine love and community fellowship flourish, to visit Greater Brookville Church.

The church is not just a building; it’s a family united in faith, love, and the transformative power of the Gospel.
My visit here left an unforgettable mark on my heart, reinforcing the beauty and strength found in coming together in worship and service. I can’t wait to see where the Holy Spirit leads me next.
